Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage Session At The Ashi Spot Kalamazoo

Meet the Therapist

Deeply rooted in the Kalamazoo community, Kristin Blue is a therapist dedicated to the transformative power of Ashiatsu and Sarga. Her professional journey includes advanced training in Bali with Sarga founders Jivatma Massaguer and Daniel Tsukayama, as well as developing her Ashiatsu technique under Al Poliarco, the 2024 Gold European Massage Champion.

By artfully blending these specialized modalities, Kristin provides a unique hybrid approach— designed to help you relax, recover, and revive through slow, deep, and sustained pressure.

And as a competitive cyclist and avid rock climber, Kristin draws on her own training to deepen her understanding of body mechanics and recovery. Every session is thoughtfully customized to meet her clients' unique goals, whether they are a high performance athlete, an active individual, or someone looking to invest in advanced self care to show up as the best version of themselves.

Client Stories

Kristin's massage was excellent. Her gentle approach with muscular releases freed me of neck pain I have been experiencing for over six months. And, unlike some massages where the pain comes back after a few days, my neck still feels great months after my first massage with her! Deeply relaxing and healing.

I have had a couple massages now with Kristin and both were amazing. She makes you feel very comfortable and makes sure that she addresses any problem areas you have as well as finds other areas of concern and works out all the kinks. I left feeling like a noodle and slept the best I have in awhile after my massage. I have to say I think this is the best massage therapist I have found in the area. Don’t wait! Treat yourself to a massage by Kristin. You will not be disappointed!

Rachel C

I booked a massage with Kristin for chronic lower back and hip pain. After consultation, we decided on an ashiatsu and myofascial hybrid. Hands down, the BEST treatment I have ever received! She listened to my concerns, found my trigger points, and provided relief I didn’t know was possible. Her demeanor and technical expertise are top notch. Highly recommend her wizardry!

Does the deep pressure hurt more than a standard massage?

Surprisingly, no. Because the foot has a much larger surface area than a hand or elbow, the pressure is distributed more evenly. Most clients find it profoundly relaxing and far more comfortable than traditional deep tissue work while achieving even greater therapeutic results.

What should I expect during my first session?

I'll begin with a brief consultation to review your health history, discuss any areas of concern, and answer any questions you have before we get started. I will then step out of the room to allow you to undress to your comfort level and get settled on the table. Once you are ready, we will begin the session. Professional draping is in place during every session to protect your privacy and ensure that we both feel safe and comfortable. I'm committed to your experience and can refine the technique or pressure at any time to meet your needs.

Follow-Up Care 24-48 hrs:

Avoid: Sitting for long periods of time, lifting heavy objects, contact sports or exercises, physical exercise (light exercises and yoga are recommended). Drinking excessive alcohol.

Clients are advised to hydrate, stretch, hydrotherapy (Hot therapy: epsom salt bath, sauna, hot tub or float. Cold Therapy: ice packs, ice cups, cold plunges). End with cold therapy

Does the Ashi Spot offer other types of Massage?

Absolutely. While Ashiatsu is my specialty, many clients prefer the familiar medium pressure of a Swedish Massage. If you prefer a traditional approach, simply let me know during our intake. You also have the flexibility to switch from Ashiatsu to Swedish at any point during your session.

Is Ashiatsu safe for me?

Ashiatsu is not for everyone. Please consult the list of contraindications.
